Jack Lugar spent more than a decade working as a television writer and producer in Los Angeles prior to relocating back to his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. 

He is credited for the sitcom Wanda at Large from Warner Bros./FOX; From the Top for Family Theater Productions; Several projects under comedian Louie Anderson’s company, Louzell Productions, the Katz Pajamas Book Series, the Sessi Nilsson Book Series, and most recently the feature film This Train which was selected as an Indiana Spotlight Film in the Heartland International Film Festival and an official Selection of the Golden State Film Festival in Los Angeles, California.  

Professionals in the industry widely recognize Jack’s skillful writing. He holds a distinction for being a selected writer for the Warner Bros. Comedy Workshop and has received recognition from the Disney/ABC Writer’s Program, Slamdance, Scriptapalooza, and the PAGE Awards. Jack has also been a panelist and jury member for the Heartland International Film Festival, Indy Shorts, Indiana Youth Film Festival, and International Mobile Film Festival. 

He joined the full-time faculty at Anderson University in the fall of 2016 and teaches screenwriting, storytelling, cinema studies, directing, and producing for film and television.

Jack is the author of nine books. Most recently he published his fourth Katz Pajamas novel, the Christmas themed, The Holly Jolly Heist. The Katz Pajamas series contains four middle-grade novels about an extraordinary cat detective. Penned under J.R. Lugar is the young adult fantasy Sesssi Nilsson series with a female protagonist who discovers her family connection to the world of Norse mythology: Sessi and the Gate to Hel, Sessi and the Race to Odin, and Sessi and the Path to Lyra.

Jack has also written the humor book The Starving Artist’s Diet and co-authored Hollywood Break-In: Launch Your Entertainment Career.
